Dream

This is your chance to use the award-winning bestseller Dream to inspire and delight – at a great price!

For schools looking for a year-long theme to inspire teachers and students, a book of the month selection, teacher gifts, ideas for test prep and more, Dream is a multilayered book with supporting LifeDreams activities.

School graduation committees and PTA/PTOs, you can get a unique gift for your graduating students. To mark the graduation milestone, you want a memorable, distinctive gift that will mean something as the years pass. Some graduates receive half a dozen or more copies of the Dr. Seuss standard Oh, the Places You'll Go. Dream is a perfect new alternative from elementary to high school to university and college. With its sophisticated artwork, CM Review describes Dream as "a book you can pin a dream on! A worthy rival to Dr. Seuss' Oh, the Places You'll Go as a favorite milestone gift book." Find out more about Seuss vs Susan.

Dream by Susan V. Bosak has won a remarkable
11 national awards, including an International Reading Association Children's Choice (10,000 students read and vote on the books they like best), a Teachers' Choice, and the Pinnacle Award as Best Gift Book. It's illustrated by 15 top illustrators from around the world.

Says The Bloomsbury Review, "This elegant book depicts the journey of life – from infancy to older adulthood – highlighting all the hopes and dreams found along the way... Inspirational quotes from people such as Martin Luther King Jr, Sir Edmund Hillary, and Emily Dickinson are set alongside gorgeous illustrations by internationally acclaimed artists. Richly crafted and thoughtfully written, Dream is a dazzling project that challenges us to find a dream and follow it."

Schools across the country are using Dream. For example, teacher Angie Smith e-mailed that "we've used Dream for our school-wide theme. The principal read it to all the students and our display cases are filled with ideas from the book. Your project has made a huge difference to our students, staff, parents, and community."

Donna Arnesen, a parent in Minnesota, says, "Parents and teachers at our school who read Dream were so moved that they believed this book would be a great inspiration to our children as they move toward not only their academic future, but also their personal future. Every child in this world, regardless of race or status, should have a dream – and it's never too early to pursue your dream. All our students are receiving a copy of Dream when they graduate."

A high school in Virginia used Dream for graduation:
"Our Gradfest was a huge success! The Dream book was a big hit as a gift for the graduating senior class. We decorated from the book and it was wonderful. Thanks so much! We plan to use the book again next year for a classroom theme and for graduation."

DREAM THEME AND MORE… Here are some ideas for using Dream:

Dream Theme: In your classroom or entire school, use Dream as a year-long theme. We offer ideas on choosing your dream theme and have free online LifeDreams activities, including popular Dream Stars. Launch the theme with a reading using the Dream Illustration Slides. Link to the global YOU 177 initiative.

Teacher Gift: Buy a copy of Dream for each teacher in your school as start-of-year inspiration or an end-of-year thank you. You can also use our professional development video workshop to give teachers lots of cross-curricular ideas.

Class Set: Buy a class set of books so that students can engage with Dream on many levels. You can use all the free online literacy and goal-setting activities with the book and connect to all areas of your curriculum.

Test Prep: Use Dream to motivate students as they prepare for state testing. Buy a book for each class, a class set, or a book for each student. Use Believe, Do, Think as a framework for test preparation. Develop creative connections for the test experience and make it meaningful for students. You can do a school-wide rally using the Dream Illustration Slides, or use a Dream Discovery school presentation to set an inspirational tone.

Book of the Month: Many schools use Dream as a book of the month that all students read and discuss. Do a group reading with the Dream Illustration Slides.

GRADUATION… Here's how you can use Dream to create graduation memories that will last a lifetime:

Gift Book: Purchase Dream as a meaningful gift book for your entire graduating class. Order a minimum 20 copies to receive a quantity discount to make it affordable.

Inscription: Your principal and teachers can sign the book's endpapers with a short message. Depending when you order, we may even be able to supply books autographed by author Susan V. Bosak!

Read It: As graduation day approaches, read Dream with the group. It has a timeless message about living and dreaming. Each illustrator has also hidden a star in their illustration, so the book is evocative in encouraging students to hunt for the stars and make a new wish with each one they find! This is a fun, whimsical way to encourage graduates to share their hopes and goals for the life ahead of them.

Write It: Once schools introduce students to Dream, students are often inspired to do their own writing. Springboarding from the book, they can write about a person (staff or student) or an experience at the school that has inspired or encouraged them to reach for their dreams.

Ceremony: Many schools read Dream aloud during their graduation or moving up ceremony. Your principal or a teacher can read the story – it takes about 10 minutes – or selected students can each take a turn reading a page. The Dream Illustration Slides allow you to project the illustrations at the front to create a special multimedia experience for students and their families.

Dream Stars: Have students write their dreams and goals for their future on large, colorful Dream Stars. Use the stars as decorations for your graduation ceremony (parents love reading the dreams of their children!). Then, save the stars for a future class reunion. Dream posters are also available as decorations for a graduation ceremony.

Share the Dream: Share the Dream with us – and everyone! – by posting your own unique dream video on our YouTube channel. This is a way for students to look
to their future while creating a legacy video of their graduating class. Students, parents, and grandparents will all enjoy viewing the video. Each graduate participates in the reading and shares their dream. This video will become a lasting keepsake, and something everyone will enjoy now and at future class reunions. So, get creative and Share the Dream.
